There are countless reasons to visit Dubai and make it your next vacation abroad (or maybe even your FIRST vacation abroad after this long hiatus). Whether you are a foodie, architecture obsessed or just enjoy a very luxurious hotel, Dubai has everything to offer.
If you need the extra push, here are 15 reasons to visit Dubai and why it should be your next vacation:

1. Proximity to the desert. Dubai is surrounded by the desert which gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy any and all the excursions.

2. The hotels are OUT OF THIS WORLD. Dubai is home to the first 7 start hotel in the world. Not sure where to start? Check out my post on Al Maha and the St. Regis Dubai.
3. Dinner and a show. We saw La Perle (think Cirque du Soleil-esque) during our visit and highly recommend taking advantage of the diverse show opportunities throughout the city.

4. The WORLD’S TALLEST BUILDING.

5. Dinners in the desert. One of the most romantic experiences ever! I still cannot believe we were able to enjoy a dinner under the stars. We set this up through our hotel by working with the concierge.

6. Hot air balloon rides over the desert. This was so outside my comfort zone (fear of flying), but I am so glad we did it. We did a sunrise ride. When we arrived to the desert it was pitch black and we were able to watch the sun rise from the sky. After the excursion, we enjoyed a traditional breakfast in the desert. Booked with Platinum Heritage.

7. The Dubai Skyline. The juxtaposition of the beach meeting the city is unlike anything I have ever seen. The skyline in Dubai is always changing with new buildings as the city grows (which tends to be overnight..)

8. Falconry. One of the coolest things I did not even realize existed. During our stay at Al Maha, we were walked through the history of falconry and watched as they encouraged the birds to fly. Craziest part? Falcons can cost upwards of a million dollars!

9. Abu Dhabi is a short day trip away. You cannot miss a day trip to the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. Unsure how to spend the day? Check out my day itinerary for Abu Dhabi.

10. ENDLESS food options. Dubai is a cultural melting pot and the food is no exception. From food trucks and small food stalls to five-star dining, there are options for any palate. One of the most stand out meals we experienced was Egyptian food (shown above).
11. The Shopping. If you have watched Sex and the City 2, you know all about the incredible shopping. You can easily spend a day at the Dubai mall. Traveling with family or a significant other? The Dubai Mall has a lot more than shopping to offer – from aquariums to ice skating rinks, there is something for everyone.

12. Champagne in the desert (are you noticing a desert theme…) As I planned the trip, I did worry that we had too many desert activities planned. However, I could not be more happy with how our itinerary turned out and enjoyed every moment spent outside the city.
13. The Beach. After spending a few days running around the city and enjoying a few excursions in the desert, I recommend setting aside time for the beach. Better yet – find yourself a hotel resort on the beach and spend a few days unwinding.

14. The Architecture. The building structures in Dubai are out of this world and you can quite literally see the city getting built day by day (construction moves so quickly). Pictured: The Dubai Frame.

15. Largest Suspended Aquarium in the World. Did I mention that it is located in the Dubai Mall? This is one of the many over-the-top excursions Dubai has created for visitors.
